The BMW F 900 GS is a middleweight adventure bike that replaced the F 850 GS in 2024. Its heavily reworked 895 cc parallel-twin with a 270-degree crankshaft makes 77 kW (105 hp) and 93 Nm. Wet weight has dropped to around 219 kg thanks to an Akrapovic titanium silencer, lighter trim, a plastic tank and a new aluminium subframe. Suspension travel grew to 230 mm front and 215 mm rear with fully adjustable Showa units, pushing the model further toward genuine off-road use than the F 850 GS.
The F 900 GS targets riders who actually ride gravel and light enduro and don't want the bulk and complexity of an R 1300 GS. The seat is tall at 870 mm, so shorter riders will need the low seat or lowered suspension option. Standard kit includes a 6.5-inch TFT, ASC and ABS Pro and three ride modes; Pro modes and a quickshifter are optional. Rivals are the KTM 890 Adventure R, Honda Africa Twin 1100, the smaller Yamaha Ténéré 700 and Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro.
