Generations and editions
Features and handling differ by generation. Use this overview to find the right version.
Years
2023 - present
Street Triple RS 765 (2023–heden)
EditionThe current RS delivers 130 hp and has the most track-focused suspension and brakes of the standard models. The Moto2 Edition uses the same 130 hp engine in a limited-spec presentation.
Years
2023 - present
Street Triple 765 (2023–heden)
EditionThe current Street Triple gained Moto2-derived engine tuning, modern cornering electronics and a sharper base. R and RS differ in output; identify the trim only when it is explicit.
Years
2020 - 2022
Street Triple S 765 (2020–2022)
EditionThe revised S remained the entry version, with 95 hp and a calmer output than the R and RS. The three trims run alongside each other, so year alone is insufficient for automatic trim identification.
Years
2020 - 2022
Street Triple RS 765 (2020–2022)
EditionThe RS is the sharpest 2020–2022 Street Triple, with 123 hp and components aimed at track use. It remains a full-power motorcycle and is not A2 compliant.
Years
2020 - 2022
Street Triple R 765 (2020–2022)
EditionThe R offers 118 hp, adjustable Showa suspension and a useful blend of road comfort and track capability. Verify the R label, because the S and RS share its years and engine size.
Years
2017 - 2019
Street Triple RS 765 (2017–2019)
EditionThe first 765 RS has the highest output in this series and premium Öhlins/Brembo components. It is aimed at the sporty rider, not as an A2 base.
Years
2017 - 2019
Street Triple R 765 (2017–2019)
EditionThe R combines the 765cc triple with stronger brakes and adjustable Showa suspension. Use this row only when R is explicit in the title or source value.
Years
2017 - 2022
Street Triple 765 basisreeks (2017–2022)
GenerationThe 765 replaced the 675 in 2017. S, R and RS run alongside each other in these years; without an explicit trim it is not responsible to assign an advert to one of them.
Years
2013 - 2016
Street Triple 675 (2013–2016)
GenerationThe second 675 gained a new frame and under-engine exhaust, making it lighter and more precise than the first version. This is the correct generation for 2013–2016 adverts without an S, R or RS label.
Years
2007 - 2012
Street Triple 675 (2007–2012)
GenerationThe first 675 is recognisable by its high exhaust and round twin headlights. It combines the 675cc triple with a simple, light naked layout; check exhaust condition and charging health on older examples.
About the Triumph Street Triple
The Triumph Street Triple is a lightweight naked bike with a characterful inline triple and an unmistakably sporty base. The name began in 2007 with the 675 cc Daytona-derived model and grew to 765 cc in 2017. That makes this a family ranging from affordable early 675s to modern R and RS versions with stronger brakes, suspension and electronics. An advert simply labelled ‘Street Triple’ therefore does not identify the exact version.
It remains compelling for twisty roads and daily use because of its slim shape, direct throttle response and relatively comfortable riding position. When viewing a used bike, confirm the year, capacity and trim: a 2017–2022 S, R or RS differs materially in output and hardware, while the 2023 generation stepped up again. The 675 is an engaging middleweight; the 765 RS is distinctly more focused and is not A2 compliant.

What to check before buying
- On a 675, check charging voltage and alternator/regulator wiring; an erratic charging system is not normal on a healthy bike.
- Test both cold and hot starting and idle. Stalling or uneven running warrants diagnosis of mapping, throttle bodies and intake-air leaks.
- Inspect fork legs, linkage bearings and head bearings for leaks or perceptible play; hard use exposes deferred chassis maintenance.
- Check the exhaust, heat shields and rear mounting points for corrosion or crash damage, especially on early high-exhaust examples.
- Match the VIN, year and trim to the advert. S, R, RS and Moto2 Edition have different original suspension, brakes and output.
