Years2017–2020
The Shiver 900 is the definitive larger Shiver with an 896 cc 90-degree V-twin, 70 kW/95 hp and ride-by-wire with three riding modes. It succeeds the 750 but is not a 750 with different stickers; displacement, torque and electronics differ materially. ABS and traction control belong to the 900, while accessories or an Akrapovič exhaust do not create a separate edition. On used examples, check mapping, shift linkage and V-twin maintenance against schedule.
896 cc · 95 hp · 2 cyl.
The Aprilia Shiver 900 replaced the Shiver 750 in 2017 with a bigger bore taking displacement to 896cc. The 90-degree V-twin produces 95 hp and 90 Nm, with emphasis on low and mid-range torque. Aprilia retained the steel-tube trellis frame with aluminium subframe and modernised the electronics with a new TFT display, three riding modes and standard ABS plus traction control. The Shiver 900 ran until around 2020 and kept the unmistakable Italian styling of its predecessor with twin headlights and a sporty end can.
This naked appeals to riders seeking a characterful middleweight with more pull than the Shiver 750. With an 810 mm seat height and upright riding position it is suited to commuting, weekend rides and as a comfortable sport-naked. Competitors include the Yamaha MT-09, Kawasaki Z900 and Suzuki GSX-S950. The Shiver 900 lacks the sharp sportiness of the MT-09 but offers a relaxed V-twin character many riders prefer. On the used market it is keenly priced versus Japanese rivals, though service depends on a dealer with Aprilia experience.

Check ignition coils and ride-by-wire system for error codes; an inherited weak point from the Shiver platform
Test riding mode operation and the TFT display; software bugs are known on early 2017 examples
Inspect the water pump for leaks; the seals are a recurring weak point on this V-twin
Ask for service history with valve clearance checks every 20,000 km; deferred maintenance is expensive
Inspect the steel trellis frame for corrosion around welds, particularly on bikes used through winter
