Years2017–present
The standard Leoncino 500 uses 17-inch cast wheels, road tyres and shorter suspension around the A2-compatible 500cc twin. It is lower and clearly more road-focused than the Trail.

Years2017–present
The Trail gains wire-spoke wheels with a 19-inch front, more aggressive tyres, longer suspension and a taller seat. Trail must be explicit because engine output and years match the standard Leoncino.

The Benelli Leoncino 500 is a neo-retro scrambler-style roadster launched in 2017 as the bigger sibling to the Leoncino 250. It is powered by a liquid-cooled 500 cc parallel twin with DOHC and eight valves, producing around 35 kW (48 hp) and 45 Nm. The round headlight, sculpted tank with integrated knee pockets and the lion-cub badge on the front mudguard reference Benelli's 1950s heritage, while a tubular steel frame, USD fork and 17-inch wheels keep the hardware up to modern middleweight standards.
The Leoncino 500 targets A2 licence riders and step-up riders looking for an affordable, characterful scrambler. At 207 kg wet and with an 800 mm seat height it is not light, but the centre of gravity sits low and the upright stance is comfortable for urban and regional riding. Alongside the standard version there is a Trail variant with a 19-inch front wheel and knobblier tyres for a more off-road look. Closest rivals are the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Honda CB500X.
Inspect paintwork on tank, frame and mudguards - small rust spots around bolts are common
Test the clutch lever and hydraulic master cylinder for leaks after 2-3 years
Check chain and sprockets; the OEM chain kit wears faster than Japanese rivals
Ask for service history from an authorised Benelli dealer - parts lead times can be long
Test throttle response below 3,000 rpm in town traffic; some bikes feel jerky
