The GSX-8S uses Suzuki's 776 cc 270-degree parallel twin with ride-by-wire and a bidirectional quickshifter in a compact naked-bike chassis.
776 cc · 83 hp · 2 cyl.
The Suzuki GSX-8S is a middleweight naked introduced in 2023 around an all-new 776 cc parallel twin with a 270° crank. That uneven firing order gives the engine a sound and character closer to a V-twin than to a conventional inline twin. Power output is around 83 hp, kerb weight is roughly 202 kg, and the bike comes standard with a TFT display, three riding modes, traction control and a bidirectional quickshifter. The chassis architecture is shared with the V-Strom 800.
The GSX-8S targets the modern A2 or all-round rider who wants more character than a typical middleweight naked while staying away from litre-class power. It is well suited to commuting, short multi-day trips and the occasional spirited ride. Direct rivals are the Yamaha MT-07, Honda CB750 Hornet, Triumph Trident 660 and Kawasaki Z650; the Suzuki stands out for its 270° twin, generous standard electronics and solid build quality.
The stock seat is firm; ask whether a comfort or aftermarket seat has already been fitted, or budget for one in your purchase plan.
Check that the ABS warning light extinguishes after self-test; Suzuki has issued service bulletins on early VINs for rerouting the wheel-speed sensor wiring.
The standard flyscreen is small and lets through significant wind buffeting above 120 km/h; look for an aftermarket touring screen or budget for one.
The 14-litre tank is modest for the displacement; expect 200-220 km between fills in real-world riding and ask the previous owner about their range.
Test the bidirectional quickshifter in both directions; a few owners report hesitation at low revs; engagement should feel clean from roughly 4.000 rpm upward.
