The Honda CBR600RR is a full-blooded middleweight supersport introduced by Honda in 2003 as a direct rival to the Yamaha R6 and Kawasaki ZX-6R. The liquid-cooled 599cc inline-four produces 118 hp and revs freely beyond 15,000 rpm. The chassis is tuned for precision and speed; the riding position is uncompromisingly sporty. From 2007 ABS and rider aids were gradually added, making later models more manageable on public roads.
The CBR600RR targets riders who want to combine serious trackday use with legal road riding. It is not intended for beginners; the cramped riding position and sharp throttle response require experience. In second-hand terms, 2007–2012 models are attractive due to available ABS and an improved chassis, while early models offer a cheaper entry point. Always inspect for signs of previous circuit use when buying.
Check the frame for previous crash (track) damage and replacement parts, as this is a frequently track-used bike.
Check the front forks for seal wear and equal damping; inverted forks are expensive to rebuild.
Check the exhaust for rust, burn-through and non-original slip-on systems that complicate roadworthiness testing.
Check brake discs for minimum thickness and uneven wear from aggressive track use.
Check the clutch for slippage at high revs; clutch plates are quickly stressed by spirited riding.
