About the Cagiva V Raptor 1000
The Cagiva V-Raptor 1000 is a liquid-cooled 996 cc V-twin sportbike with full fairing produced by Cagiva from 2000 to approximately 2005. The motorcycle shares its platform with the naked Raptor 1000 but features a distinctively futuristic full fairing designed by Miguel Galluzzi. The Suzuki TL1000S engine block delivered 111 hp inside an Italian body that stood out when it appeared on the market.
The V-Raptor 1000 targets sporty riders who want a full-fairing machine with Italian design as an alternative to mainstream Japanese supersportbikes. The full fairing provides more wind protection on the motorway than the naked variant. It is not suitable for beginners given the high torque and quick steering. Comparable bikes include the Ducati 998 and the Aprilia RSV 1000.

What to check before buying
- Check the Suzuki TL1000 engine for oil leaks at the cylinder head bolts and crankcase; the engine block is prone to oil seepage with age.
- Inspect the rotary rear damper for operation; the TL1000 rear suspension setup is a known weakness and replacement parts are scarce.
- Check the fairing panels for cracks and UV damage; the V-Raptor's plastic bodywork ages quickly and original Cagiva fairing sets are no longer available.
- Look for corrosion at aluminium frame joints; Cagiva frames are vulnerable to galvanic corrosion when neglected.
- Check the availability of Cagiva-specific parts; the brand no longer exists and parts must be sourced via Suzuki TL1000 channels or specialists.
