Supermoto motorcycles

Supermotos combine the light, tall base of an off-road motorcycle with smaller road wheels, powerful brakes and asphalt tyres. A wide handlebar and upright seat provide leverage and visibility, while low weight makes quick turn-in and corrections easy. Single-cylinder engines respond directly and show most of their character at low and middle revs. Wind protection and luggage space are minimal, and narrow seats are less suitable for long motorway journeys. On winding roads and in urban traffic, the concept feels agile and easy to place.

The Dutch used market is compact and includes factory models alongside carefully converted enduros. Familiar names are the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto, KTM 690 SMC R, Suzuki DR-Z400SM, Aprilia SXV and older KTM LC4 variants. Especially on conversions, check that wheels, brakes and suspension form a coherent package. Review service intervals, oil use, cold starting, chain and sprockets, and play in the steering head or swingarm. A supermoto suits riders who value short technical rides and direct handling over touring comfort or long fuel range.
