Adventure bikes are the most popular motorcycles in the Netherlands, and prices reflect that. Still, there is plenty of choice under € 10,000, especially if you accept a bike that is a few years old. This overview shows the adventure bikes with the most listings and a median asking price below € 10,000, based on all listings MotorMonitor tracks (as of October 2026). Current prices and every listing are on each model page.

Middleweights: affordable and economical

The Suzuki V-Strom 650 is the classic choice: a smooth V-twin, little maintenance and plenty of listings, often under € 6,000. The Kawasaki Versys 650 is similar but sportier and has the most listings in this class. The Honda NC 750 X stands out for low fuel consumption and a storage space where the tank usually sits; with the DCT automatic it can be ridden without a clutch. The Triumph Tiger 800 and the BMW F 700 GS are a little better equipped.

Big adventure bikes for middleweight money

A big adventure bike from around 2013 now costs about as much as a new middleweight. The BMW R 1200 GS has by far the most listings; its median asking price sits just below € 10,000 for a bike from around 2013. The Suzuki V-Strom 1000, the Triumph Tiger Explorer and the KTM 1190 Adventure are alternatives with more power. Expect higher maintenance costs on these older, heavier bikes.

What to check

  • Ask for the service history. On big adventure bikes, valve clearance, shaft or chain maintenance and brake fluid are important items.
  • Adventure bikes are often ridden with luggage and sometimes off-road. Check the crash bars, pannier racks, wheels and suspension.
  • Every model page lists model-specific things to check. Also use our inspection checklist.
