The best used A2 motorcycles and what they cost

Which motorcycles fit the 35 kW A2 limit as standard, how many are for sale and what do they cost? An overview based on current asking prices.

MotorMonitor3 min read

An A2 licence lets you ride motorcycles of up to 35 kW, with a power-to-weight ratio of at most 0.2 kW per kilo. A more powerful bike can be restricted to 35 kW, provided its original output is no more than 70 kW. A bike that makes 35 kW or less as standard is often the simplest choice: no restrictor kit, no paperwork and a lower purchase price.

Below are the A2 motorcycles with the most listings in the Netherlands right now. Prices are median asking prices across all listings MotorMonitor tracks (as of October 2026). Each model page shows current prices and every listing.

Naked: light and affordable

The KTM 390 Duke and the Yamaha MT-03 are the cheapest way in on this list and both have plenty of listings. The Duke is lively and light, the MT-03 calmer with a smooth twin. The Honda CB 500 F has the full 35 kW and is known for its reliability. The BMW G 310 R is the cheapest option, but at 25 kW also the least powerful.

Adventure: for longer trips

The Honda CB 500 X is a comfortable all-rounder with an upright riding position, suited to commuting and touring. The KTM 390 Adventure is lighter and more focused on unpaved roads. The Benelli TRK 502 offers a lot of bike for little money, but at around 235 kg it is heavy.

Cruiser and classic: a low seat

If you want a low seat, look at the Honda CMX 500 Rebel (690 mm) or the Kawasaki Eliminator 500 (735 mm). The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is a classic twin that falls within the A2 limit as standard.

What to check

  • On a restricted bike, check that the restriction is registered and the paperwork matches.
  • A2 bikes are often ridden by beginners, so look closely for drop damage on levers, footpegs and fairing parts.
  • Compare the asking price with the price indication on the model page, and use our inspection checklist.
