Years
2017 - 2019
The 2017 update added a more refined electronics package and revised front end; the XT is identified by wire-spoke wheels and a more adventure-oriented look. Engine and core output remained 1,037 cc and 74 kW, so trim and condition matter more than cosmetic model-year differences.
Years
2014 - 2016
The returning V-Strom 1000 gained a 1,037 cc V-twin, traction control and a lighter aluminium chassis. This is the modern base version before the 2017 update; ABS and a 19-inch front wheel make it primarily a strong road tourer.
Years
2002 - 2012
The original DL1000 uses the 996 cc TL-family V-twin in a tall touring package. Identified by its older, broader fairing, it offers strong torque and comfort but lacks the traction control and refinement of the 2014 successor.
The Suzuki V-Strom 1000 is a large adventure-tourer with a 90-degree V-twin and a clear road-biased character. The first DL1000 generation used 996 cc and arrived in 2002; after a break, the name returned for 2014 with an all-new 1,037 cc engine, traction control and a notably lighter, more modern chassis. The V-Strom 1000 remained in this displacement class through 2019. The later V-Strom 1050 is a separate successor and does not belong as an edition on this model page.
This Suzuki is for riders covering long paved distances with luggage and a passenger, with only light unpaved-road use in mind. It offers more weather protection and composure than a naked bike, but is less off-road focused than a true enduro. An early DL1000 is an affordable, characterful tourer; the 2014–2019 version makes more sense for buyers wanting modern brakes, traction control and a more refined chassis. On any used example, check servicing, charging equipment and signs of heavy luggage or gravel use.
A used Suzuki V-Strom 1000 costs €7,450 on average. Most cost €2,999 to €9,950. This is based on 143 motorcycles for sale now.
