The Suzuki VL 800 Intruder Volusia is a mid-size V-twin cruiser with 805 cc that Suzuki introduced in 2001 as the more accessible entry in the Intruder family. The liquid-cooled 45-degree V-twin is deliberately tuned to a relaxed 38 kW (52 hp), giving the bike a smooth, unhurried character. A low seat height, forward foot controls and classic chrome styling place the VL 800 firmly in the Harley-inspired cruiser tradition that defines Suzuki's Intruder range.
The VL 800 is aimed at first-time cruiser riders or those wanting a relaxed daily machine for commuting and leisure rides. At 254 kg it is heavier than smaller alternatives, but the low centre of gravity keeps city manoeuvring manageable. Production ran until around 2009, making it a popular used buy in the affordable bracket. It sits naturally alongside a Yamaha V-Star 650 or Honda Shadow 750.

Check the carburettors for blockages; the VL 800 has twin carbs that are prone to fouling after extended storage.
Inspect chrome components for rust; aftermarket chrome has a thinner protective coating than original Suzuki parts.
Look for oil seepage at the cylinder head gaskets; a known issue at higher mileage.
Check front fork damping; the stock suspension is soft and wears noticeably over time.
