The Royal Enfield Himalayan is the brand's entry adventure bike and exists in two generations: the original 411 cc air-cooled long-stroke single (2016-2023) and the modern Himalayan 450 with the liquid-cooled Sherpa 452 cc DOHC single (from 2023). Both are unapologetically touring-oriented with long-travel suspension, a 21-inch spoked front wheel, tall handlebars, an upright seating triangle and a relatively low seat that suits shorter riders. The 411 makes around 24.5 hp; the 450 lifts that to about 40 hp and adds a TFT with turn-by-turn navigation, switchable ABS and ride modes.
The Himalayan targets the A2 licence holder and the rider deliberately stepping away from the 1,000 cc class. It is low, long and calm on the motorway, but it is not fast. Where it shines is on B-roads, gravel and light off-road. Direct rivals are the KTM 390 Adventure, BMW G310GS, Honda CB500X and Kawasaki Versys-X 300.
