About the Ktm 1290 Super Duke GT
The KTM 1290 Super Duke GT is the sport-touring spin-off of the Super Duke R, built around the same 1301 cc 75-degree LC8 V-twin. KTM pairs the naked platform's torque with a longer swingarm, more suspension travel, semi-active WP suspension and factory pannier mounts. From 2019 onwards the GT received a revised frame, slipper clutch, hill hold control and a TFT dashboard with smartphone connectivity. Without panniers and a tall screen it looks like a thickened naked; loaded up it eats motorway miles.
The target rider is the experienced owner who refuses to choose between lap times and long distances. With around 175 hp, an upright stance and a 23 litre tank, the GT comfortably manages a 400 km tank range. Ergonomics are sportier than a BMW R 1250 GS or Multistrada V4, the centre of gravity sits high and the front end demands an active riding style. Direct rivals are the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX, BMW S 1000 XR and Ducati Multistrada V4 S in its sportier trims.
