About the Bmw HP2 Sport
The BMW HP2 Sport is a fully faired supersport built on the Boxer platform, produced from 2008 to 2011. The 1170 cc air/oil-cooled boxer twin produces 133 hp in a full fairing body inspired by the R 1200 S. The HP2 Sport is one of the very few Boxer superbikes ever built and combines the typical boxer character, low centre of mass, broad torque curve, with sporty riding dynamics. It features a twin-shock rear suspension and Duolever front end for superior circuit performance in the standard production version.
The HP2 Sport targets riders with a deep affinity for BMW who also want fully fledged supersport riding dynamics. It is not an entry-level machine: the 186 kg kerb weight and aggressive power output demand riding experience. The sport fairing provides good wind protection and enables longer rides in comfort despite the aggressive seating position. Contemporary competitors included the Ducati 1098 and Honda CBR1000RR.

What to check before buying
- Check cylinder head and sump gaskets for oil leaks; boxer twins are known for leakage after 50,000+ km if seals have not been preventively replaced.
- Inspect the Duolever front end for play in the ball joints; wear causes imprecise steering and repair is expensive.
- Check the radially mounted brake callipers for piston seizure and confirm brake fluid has been changed recently.
- Ask about original documentation (HP2 Sport had a limited run); incomplete paperwork reduces value on the collector's market.
- Inspect the fairing components carefully; original HP2 Sport fairing parts are scarce and expensive when damaged.
