Vitpilen, Swedish for 'white arrow', is Husqvarna's lean, cafe racer-style naked range. The family launched in 2018 with the 401 (KTM 390 Duke-based single) and the 701 (KTM 690 Duke single), both styled by Kiska with low clip-ons, a long tank and a distinctive silhouette. In 2024 the Vitpilen 801, a 799 cc LC8c parallel twin producing around 77 kW, replaced the 701 with ride modes and a TFT dash. A 125 version is also available for A1 licence holders. Every variant uses WP suspension, Brembo or ByBre brakes and KTM-derived steel trellis frames.
The typical Vitpilen rider chases style and feel rather than touring comfort. The seating position is sporty upright on the smaller bikes and quite committed on the 701, the seat is narrow and longer trips test the lower back. The bike is happiest on evening city loops, short B-road blasts and Instagram pit stops. Direct rivals are the KTM Duke range, the Yamaha XSR700/900 and the BMW R nineT Pure. Maintenance follows KTM service intervals; the 701 in particular needs water pump and valve clearance attention every 10,000 km.
