About the Benelli Leoncino 800 Trail
The Benelli Leoncino 800 Trail is a scrambler-styled naked launched in 2022 on the 754 cc parallel twin platform shared with the 752 S and TRK 800. The liquid-cooled 270-degree crank twin produces around 56 kW (76 hp) and 67 Nm of torque. Compared with the standard Leoncino 800, the Trail version runs 19/17-inch wheels, longer suspension travel and off-road-leaning footpeg and bar positions. Classic scrambler cues include the high side-mounted exhaust, low front mudguard and a small cowl around the headlight.
The Leoncino 800 Trail targets riders who want scrambler looks paired with daily usability and occasional gravel-road work. It plays in the same space as the Triumph Scrambler 900, Ducati Scrambler 800 and Moto Guzzi V85 TT, but at a lower entry price. With an 815 mm seat height and around 227 kg curb weight it is manageable but not lightweight. On tarmac the engine pulls strongly and suits long rides; on rough terrain it is more styling than genuine off-road capability.

What to check before buying
- Check paint chipping around the tank and lower frame - finish quality lags Japanese/European rivals
- Test TFT display for firmware glitches and Bluetooth connectivity
- Inspect the high-mount exhaust for stone chips and the heat shield for loose fasteners
- Ask for chain and sprocket service history - the 525 chain wears faster than on rival scramblers
- Check throttle response in first and second gear; jerky fuelling in town has been reported
