About the Hercules GS 125
The Hercules GS 125 is a lightweight German enduro from the 1970s, built around an air-cooled 123 cc Sachs two-stroke. Its six-speed gearbox, slim tank, large wheels and simple long-travel suspension were intended for dependable trail and competition use. Road and sporting versions could differ considerably in output, lighting and exhaust, making engine code and homologation more useful than the model name alone.
Today the GS 125 mainly appeals as a rare classic enduro. Low mass and direct two-stroke response make it lively, while brakes and suspension remain period technology. Buy for completeness: original tank, airbox, exhaust, hubs and plastics are difficult to replace. Check compression, crank bearings, ignition and gearbox before riding. A documented restoration using correct Sachs parts is worth more than a shiny motorcycle assembled from unrelated components.
