Years
2008 - 2017
From 2008 the Special gained the 1,247cc Revolution engine and larger tank while retaining its wide 240mm rear tyre. Its high output and long wheelbase make it a power cruiser rather than a traditional Harley.
Years
2007 - 2007
The first Night Rod Special still combines the 1,130cc engine with forward controls, blacked-out trim and a 240mm rear tyre. It is a transition year, so VRSCDX or Special must be explicit.
Years
2006 - 2007
The original Night Rod uses the 1,130cc Revolution V-twin, mid controls and a relatively conventional V-Rod rear tyre. VRSCD and 1130 separate it from the concurrently introduced Special.
The Harley-Davidson Night Rod (VRSCD/VRSCDX) is a muscle cruiser from the V-Rod family, produced from 2006 to 2017. Unlike most Harley models, the Night Rod uses a liquid-cooled Revolution engine with 1130 cc (Night Rod Special: 1250 cc), co-developed with Porsche. This unit delivers substantially more power than Harley's traditional air-cooled V-twins: the Night Rod Special produces around 125 hp. The low, taut design, with a silhouette closer to European muscle bikes, sets it apart from the rest of the H-D range.
The Night Rod Special targets riders who want sportier performance than a traditional Harley delivers without leaving the H-D brand. The seating position is low and stretched, and the wide rear tyre and overall weight limit urban agility compared to a sportsbike. It appeals to riders drawn to the look of a European power cruiser with Harley identity. The Night Rod Special was discontinued in 2017.
A used Harley Davidson Night Rod costs €17,749 on average. Most cost €10,647 to €41,399. This is based on 58 motorcycles for sale now.
