About the Indian Super Chief
The Indian Super Chief is a classic cruiser with retro design inspired by the iconic Indian Chief of the 1940s, introduced in 2022. The powertrain is the air/oil-cooled Thunder Stroke 116 V-twin displacing 1890 cc and producing 162 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The Super Chief features the signature valanced fenders, wide front wheel, and a classic two-up saddle. The ride character is relaxed and comfortable, aimed at long-haul touring.
The Super Chief is the entry variant in the Super Chief line, offering everything essential about the model without the extras of the Limited trim. It targets riders who appreciate the classic American cruiser tradition and prioritise comfort over performance. Rivals are the Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic 114 and Honda Gold Wing F6C.

What to check before buying
- Check the wide fenders for scratches and damage; the sweeping valanced fenders are vulnerable when parking and manoeuvring.
- Check the primary chain tensioner for wear; the high torque of the Thunder Stroke 116 accelerates primary drive wear.
- Inspect the seat upholstery for cracking or damage caused by prolonged sun exposure.
- Verify the electronics operate correctly across ride modes and traction control; early 2022 models had intermittent software glitches.
- Inspect exhaust flanges and heat shields for rust, particularly on bikes stored outdoors.
