About the Aprilia Tuareg 660
The Aprilia Tuareg 660 launched in 2022 as the adventure derivative of the 660 platform and quickly became a favourite in the middleweight all-road class. It is powered by the same 659cc 270-degree-crank parallel-twin found in the RS 660 and Tuono 660, here detuned to 80 hp for more low-end torque. Aprilia opted for a genuine off-road geometry with a 21-inch front wheel, long suspension travel (240 mm front and rear), Kayaba suspension, and a dry weight of just 187 kg, making the Tuareg one of the lightest machines in its class. The name harks back to Aprilia's classic Tuareg from the 1980s.
The Tuareg 660 targets adventurous riders who actually want to go off-road without a 250+ kg behemoth like an R 1300 GS. The upright riding position, wide bars and 860 mm seat height are ideal for stand-up riding off road. On tarmac it is comfortable enough for long days thanks to cruise control and four riding modes, including a configurable off-road setting. Competitors include the Yamaha Ténéré 700, KTM 890 Adventure R and Honda Transalp 750. The Tuareg excels in light agility but trades cruise comfort and luggage capacity for it compared with heavier touring enduros.
