About the Triumph Scrambler 400 XC
The Triumph Scrambler 400 XC is the more ruggedly equipped version of the Scrambler 400 X, available from the 2026 model year. Its liquid-cooled 398 cc single produces about 40 PS and 37.5 Nm through a six-speed gearbox. The main differences are equipment: side-laced Excel spoked rims with tubeless tyres, a 19-inch front wheel, aluminium sump guard, high front mudguard and small flyscreen. Around 150 mm of suspension travel and switchable rear ABS support use on loose surfaces.
The XC is aimed at A2 riders and experienced motorcyclists wanting a light, manageable all-road machine for commuting, back roads and straightforward gravel routes. Its upright position, wide handlebar and 835 mm seat provide control, although shorter riders should test the fit. It is not a competition enduro: ground clearance, suspension and protection suit gentle trails rather than hard off-road use. Compared with the regular 400 X, the premium mainly buys tougher wheels, added protection and the adventure-focused equipment package.

What to check before buying
- Check spoke tension, rim edges and tubeless sealing after off-road use.
- Inspect the sump guard, exhaust headers, hand guards and levers for impact or drop damage.
- Test ABS, the rear-wheel disable function and every dashboard warning during a test ride.
- Ask for evidence of the timely first service and have the VIN checked for current manufacturer campaigns.
