2009–2016 Gladius SFV650A ABS
EditionThe SFV650A is the ABS version of the same Gladius. Engine, frame and output are the same; the added value is anti-lock braking, so only explicit ABS or SFV650A source evidence may select this row.
Years
2009 - 2016
2009–2016 Gladius SFV650
GenerationThe standard Gladius is the 645cc V-twin naked where ABS is not confirmed as a trim. The base remained the same through its run; year, colour and accessories do not create a separate technical generation.
About the Suzuki Gladius 650
The Suzuki Gladius, officially SFV650, is the naked successor to the SV650 sold from 2009 to 2016. It uses a liquid-cooled 645cc 90-degree V-twin with fuel injection, six speeds and a low seat. In Dutch-market specification, full power is about 53 kW; the engine platform lies within the legal limit for A2 restriction, but an individual bike is only A2-legal when the correct restriction and registration are actually present.
The Gladius is appealing as a first larger motorcycle thanks to its compact seat height and recognisable V-twin character. ABS is a relevant equipment variant, not a different generation or engine. Colour panels, exhausts and accessories do not change the technical base. On a used bike, chain and brake service, clean cold starting and corrosion inspection matter far more than the colour scheme.

What to check before buying
- Start from cold and check for stable idle and smooth throttle response; when warning lights appear, diagnose TPS or injection faults rather than guessing at parts.
- Inspect chain, sprockets and swingarm for wear and corrosion; city use and poor lubrication show up here quickly.
- Check radiator, hoses and coolant for leaks or old fluid, and let the fan cycle at temperature while stationary.
- Inspect headers, collector and fasteners for corrosion and non-standard repairs.
- On an ABS example, warning light, sensor rings and braking function must work correctly; on a non-ABS bike, ABS must not be assumed from advert copy alone.
