The KTM 690 Duke is the single-cylinder naked that for years served as KTM's middleweight calling card. At its core sits the LC4 single, a 690 cc four-stroke with a balance shaft and from 2016 onwards dual balance shafts for reduced vibration. Power sits around 73 hp (2012-2015) up to 74 hp (2016+) at roughly 148 kg dry. Standard kit includes ride-by-wire, ABS and (from 2016) traction control. The steel trellis frame and WP suspension deliver a direct, raw riding feel that KTM markets as 'The Scalpel'.
The target rider loves low weight, agility and the character of a big single. The riding position is upright, the seat is tall at 835 mm and the bars are wide: ideal in town, on B-roads and on a mountain pass. For long motorway stages the 690 Duke is less suited due to vibration and a small fuel tank.
