About the Kawasaki Z 1000
The Kawasaki Z1000 is a powerful four-cylinder naked bike that shaped the modern Z range from 2003. It combines a torquey inline-four with a compact, aggressively styled riding position. In 2010 Kawasaki moved to a 1043cc engine; later versions added refined traction control, ABS and a better balanced chassis. The Z1000 is clearly sportier than a Z650 or Z750, yet remains usable on the road.
The Z1000 suits experienced riders who want fast corners and strong acceleration without a fairing. The position is mildly forward and the weight is noticeable when parking, while at speed it feels stable and direct. On a used bike, inspect suspension, brakes, chain kit, charging voltage and any crash or track damage. The Z1000SX/Ninja 1000 is the faired touring derivative and should not be confused with this naked model. Rivals include the Suzuki GSX-S1000, Yamaha MT-10 and Honda CB1000R.

What to check before buying
- Check fork, rear shock and head bearings for leaks or play.
- Inspect brake discs and ABS sensors; hard riding can load pads and discs quickly.
- Measure charging voltage and inspect the regulator, battery and connectors for heat or corrosion.
- Check chain, sprockets and frame for wear or crash damage.
