About the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R
The Kawasaki ZX-6R, part of the Ninja family since 1995, is the brand's middleweight supersport. Since 2003 it has used a 636 cc inline-four (with short detours to 599 cc for race-class homologation); current bikes deliver about 95 kW (130 hp) high in the rev range. Standard kit includes KTRC traction control, ride modes, the KQS quickshifter on recent models, a Showa BPF fork and radial Nissin brakes.
It targets riders who want a genuine supersport for track days and mountain roads but without the peakier feel of a strict 600. The 636 makes useful midrange torque, which makes it more pleasant on public roads than a Yamaha R6 or Honda CBR600RR. Today's rivals are the Honda CBR650R, Yamaha YZF-R7 and Triumph Daytona 660; on the used market it's commonly cross-shopped with the Suzuki GSX-R600/750.
