About the Honda CBR 650
The Honda CBR650 is a fully faired middleweight sportbike powered by a 649 cc inline-four producing around 95 hp. The first generation was called CBR650F (2014–2018) with a more relaxed riding position; the second generation CBR650R (2019–present) has sportier geometry and a more compact fairing. Both versions feature a slip-assist clutch, and Honda's DCT gearbox is available as an option on the F variant.
The CBR650 suits riders who want to progress beyond an entry-level bike without the full commitment of a litre-class sportbike. The high-revving, smooth inline-four works well for both sporting use and commuting. Competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 650, Yamaha YZF-R7, and Suzuki GSX-8R. The CBR650R has a more aggressive ergonomic setup compared to the original F.

What to check before buying
- Check clutch plate wear; the slip-assist clutch is durable but wears faster under hard use.
- Inspect coolant condition and the radiator; the inline-four runs hotter than a twin and requires regular coolant maintenance.
- Check exhaust connections and catalytic converter area for rust on year-round bikes.
- Look for fork wear on hard-ridden CBR650R examples; replacing the front forks is more expensive than on the F variant.
- Verify that maintenance has been carried out at the 12,000 km service intervals; skipped services can affect valve timing.
