About the Indian Scout Classic
The Indian Scout Classic replaced the older Scout trim in 2022 with classic styling: round headlight, teardrop tank, long fenders and either cast or spoked wheels depending on year. Under the tank sits a liquid-cooled 1133cc V-twin pushing around 100 hp through a six-speed gearbox and belt drive. From 2025 the whole Scout platform moved to a new 1250cc engine with more torque and an aluminium frame; the Scout Classic inherited that powertrain while keeping the chrome trim and leather saddle.
The Scout Classic targets riders who want a mid-size cruiser without the height and mass of a Chief or Springfield. A 670 mm seat and roughly 250 kg wet weight make it accessible to shorter riders and beginner-friendly, especially in the 35 kW A2-licence version. Direct competitors are the Harley-Davidson Sportster S, Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster and Kawasaki Vulcan S, with the Indian sitting at the premium end for materials and engine character.

What to check before buying
- Inspect the drive belt and pulleys for wear; replacement is dearer than a chain.
- Check 2025-on bikes for current firmware; early 1250 examples had TBW and cruise-control fixes.
- Look at chrome finish on exhausts and headlight nacelle; pitting after a Dutch winter is not unusual.
- Verify the A2-licence version was correctly restored to full power on resale; unsafe restoration is an inspection issue.
- Test the clutch under load; older Scouts had a known issue with worn plates around 30,000 km.
