The Honda X-ADV is a crossover between scooter and adventure bike, in production since 2017. The maxi-scooter shares its 745 cc parallel-twin with the NC750 series and produces around 58 hp through Honda's Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), there is no clutch lever or gear shifter. A steel double-cradle frame, single-sided rear suspension and 17/15-inch wheels with semi-knobby tyres give the X-ADV unusually high ground clearance and modest off-road capability for a scooter.
The X-ADV targets commuters who want touring comfort, generous storage (22 litres under the seat) and an upright adventure riding position without the complexity of a true adventure bike. It is a sensible pick for daily riders who occasionally tackle longer trips or gravel roads. Direct competitors are scarce: the BMW C 400 GT and Yamaha TMAX lack the off-road pretension. The DCT keeps urban riding effortless, and the underseat compartment swallows two full-face helmets.
Check that the DCT firmware update has been applied on pre-2021 units; some shifted harshly in low gears until updated.
The drive chain dries out quickly because of its enclosed routing; verify lubrication and chain stretch on inspection.
Rear shock can weep oil at higher mileage (>40,000 km); look for oil traces along the damper body.
Steering head bearings can knock due to the X-ADV's weight and high front wheel; squeeze the front brake and rock the bike to feel for play.
A 2018 recall covered the side-stand switch on early X-ADVs; confirm the engine cuts out when the side-stand is lowered in gear.
