About the Aprilia RS 250
The Aprilia RS250 is an Italian two-stroke supersport powered by a 249 cc V-twin engine, technically based on the Suzuki RGV250 motor but mounted in an exclusive Aprilia chassis with full fairing bodywork. The engine produces around 70 hp in race tune and at its 1994 launch was one of the most impressive 250 cc street motorcycles ever made, backed by Aprilia's success in the 250 cc Grand Prix World Championship. An exhaust valve system (RAVE) optimises the power curve across a wide rev range.
The RS250 is emphatically not for beginners: the aggressive two-stroke powerband, high steering input demands and committed riding position require experience and anticipation. It is at home on circuit and twisty mountain roads. Main rivals were the Honda NSR250R and Suzuki RGV250. Today the RS250 is a highly sought-after classic with strong collector value, especially for well-preserved or restored examples.
