The Honda CB 600 F Hornet is a naked middleweight four-stroke produced from 1998 to 2013. Its 599 cc inline-four is derived from the CBR600F sport engine and produces around 97 hp in a package weighing just 189 kg. The low purchase price, low-maintenance DOHC injection (later models), and bulletproof build quality made it one of Europe's best-selling middleweights. A major redesign in 2007 brought a new frame, styling, and optional ABS.
The CB 600 F suits riders stepping off a beginner bike who want to learn naked riding. The upright ergonomics are far less tiring in city traffic than a full-faired sportbike, while the power is more than adequate for motorway cruising. It competes with the Kawasaki Z650/Z750 and Yamaha FZ6. A large used supply in the Netherlands keeps parts and specialist knowledge readily available.
Check the steering head bearings for play; high city mileage bikes wear these quickly
Inspect the exhaust collector and mid-pipes for corrosion, especially pre-2007 models exposed without full fairing
Look for fork seal leaks; seals and spring dampers have limited life at high mileage
Ask about clutch condition; aggressive riding and hard launches accelerate clutch plate wear
Check the wiring loom around the dash for DIY repairs; many Hornets have been owner-maintained with improvised fixes
