The original FLHX Street Glide combines the batwing fairing with the 1584cc Twin Cam 96 and a six-speed gearbox. This is the early air-cooled touring generation; 2006–2011 and 1584cc belong together, not with the later 103.
The Harley-Davidson Street Glide (FLHX) is a bagger-tourer defined by its fork-mounted batwing fairing and rigid saddlebags. Current bikes use the Milwaukee-Eight 107 or 114 V-twin; earlier generations ran the Twin Cam 96, 103 and 110, and the 2024 model year brought a new chassis and the Milwaukee-Eight 117. Introduced in 2006 as a stripped-down alternative to the Electra Glide, the Street Glide has grown into one of Harley's best-selling models.
It targets long-distance riders who want highway capability and luggage without the full dresser fit-out. A low seat height around 700 mm, low-rev torque and a fairing-mounted infotainment system make it comfortable for solo and two-up touring. Direct competitors are the Indian Chieftain, Honda Gold Wing F6B and BMW K 1600 B.
