About the Can Am Spyder F3
The Can-Am Spyder F3 is a three-wheeled roadster produced by BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products), introduced in 2015 as the successor to the Spyder RS. It is powered by a 1,330 cc Rotax inline-triple producing 115 hp, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or the semi-automatic SE6 transmission. Two front wheels and one rear wheel provide inherent stability, and in several EU countries a standard car licence (category B) suffices.
The Spyder F3 targets riders who want the experience of a motorcycle without the need to balance, and former motorcyclists with mobility or balance limitations. The reclined riding position and low seat height make it very accessible. It is not a sports car substitute but a unique touring and recreational vehicle. Competitors include the Polaris Slingshot and Yamaha Niken.

What to check before buying
- Check the VSS (Vehicle Stability System) via self-diagnostics; faults trigger a yellow warning light and can limit the riding experience.
- Inspect front tyre wear carefully; the two-wheel front axle wears tyres faster and less evenly than a single front wheel.
- Check the Rotax engine coolant hoses for leaks; bodywork makes spotting seeps difficult.
- Check the SE6 semi-automatic transmission for hesitant shifts; SE6 actuators are expensive to repair.
- Inspect bodywork panels for damage; repairs are costly and replacement panels can be hard to source.
