Years
2017 - present
The modern Road King with the 1745cc Milwaukee-Eight 107 gained the revised Touring chassis and a much smoother engine. This row requires 1745cc/107 source evidence; year alone is insufficient because 114 variants coexist.
Years
2012 - 2016
The 1690cc Twin Cam 103 is the final pre-Milwaukee-Eight Road King and remains popular for straightforward classic touring. It still uses the conventional air-cooled drivetrain; a 2017-on Road King is technically a different generation.
Years
2007 - 2011
The 1584cc Twin Cam 96 brought injection and a six-speed gearbox but remains an air-cooled Road King on the older Touring platform. The 96/1584 reference distinguishes it from the 103 that followed in 2012.
Years
1999 - 2006
The Road King moved to the 1450cc Twin Cam 88, with stronger pull and a heavier-duty drivetrain. Adverts from these years showing a modern 1690cc figure are source noise or conversions and are not forced into a wrong edition by a broad year matcher.
Years
1994 - 1998
The first FLHR Road King uses the 1340cc Evolution V-twin and combines a detachable screen, hard luggage and classic touring style. It is the simplest Road King generation; a bike from this period does not belong to the Twin Cam engine family.
The Harley-Davidson Road King (FLHR) is a classic tourer with a detachable windshield and hard saddlebags, but without a handlebar fairing. Depending on the model year it ran the Twin Cam 88, 96, 103 or 110, and current bikes use the Milwaukee-Eight 107 or 114 V-twin. The Road King has been part of the Touring family since 1994 and is regarded as the most timeless of Harley's touring line, no electronic dashboard, no batwing fairing, just chrome, forward controls and the familiar Hiawatha headlight nacelle.
It suits riders who want touring-chassis comfort but prefer a cruiser silhouette. A low seat height around 715 mm, generous legroom and stable highway manners make it well suited to long two-up trips. It competes with the Indian Springfield and BMW R 18 Classic, and feels lighter and less imposing than an Electra Glide or Street Glide.
A used Harley Davidson Road King costs €10,999 on average. Most cost €7,950 to €21,700. This is based on 141 motorcycles for sale now.
