About Gilera

Gilera is a historic Italian motorcycle brand, founded in 1909 by Giuseppe Gilera in Arcore, near Milan. The brand played a prominent role in early motorsport history with multiple Grand Prix world championships. In 1969 Gilera was acquired by Piaggio. Today the brand primarily produces lightweight scooters and small motorcycles, including popular models such as the Runner, Nexus, GP800 and the Stalker in the 50cc segment.

In the Dutch market Gilera machines are mainly found as used scooters, particularly the Runner and 50cc models that are popular with younger riders and urban commuters. Maintenance is generally affordable thanks to shared Piaggio engineering and the wide Piaggio dealer network. Used Gilera scooters are readily available and offer a reliable, affordable choice in the lightweight segment, comparable to sister brands Vespa, Aprilia and Piaggio.
