The late ST3 is the final production phase and is often offered with ABS. Verify actual ABS equipment, wheel sensors and warning light on every listing; technically it remains the 992cc three-valve sport-tourer with the same desmo maintenance.
Years
2004 - 2005
The early ST3 is Ducati’s sport-tourer with the 992cc three-valve Testastretta L-twin, full fairing and luggage capability. Watch the 12,000km desmo service, coolant hoses, radiator and corrosion around battery and exhaust.
The Ducati ST3 is a sport-tourer built around the 992 cc Testastretta L-twin engine, introduced in 2004 as the successor to the ST2. With 102 hp and fully adjustable Öhlins rear suspension, the ST3 sits at the sportier end of the touring spectrum without sacrificing long-distance capability. Its half-fairing and screen offer reasonable weather protection, while the 820 mm seat height suits a broad range of riders. Production ran through 2007.
The ST3 is aimed at experienced riders who prefer pace over plush comfort. It excels on fast, winding roads and motorway cruising alike, with responsive steering and a characterful engine note. Rivals include the Honda VFR800 and Yamaha FJR1300, though the Ducati is the most sport-focused of the three. Desmodromic valve service every 12,000 km is a significant ownership consideration.
