Breva 1200 (2006–2012)
GenerationThe Breva 1200 is the larger sport-tourer in the Breva line, with the 1,151cc big-block V-twin, CARC shaft drive and a comfortable upright riding position. It is more touring-focused than the 1200 Sport, while using the same characteristic air/oil-cooled Guzzi architecture.
About the Moto Guzzi Breva 1200
The Moto Guzzi Breva 1200 is a versatile touring naked that arrived in 2006 as the flagship of the Breva range. Despite the name, the engine displaces 1,151cc, an air-cooled transverse 90-degree V-twin shared with the Griso and California. With around 95 hp and a strong mid-range torque of approximately 104 Nm, the Breva 1200 delivers effortless motorway cruising and seemingly endless pull on twisty roads. Shaft drive, a six-speed gearbox and adjustable front forks make for a stylish and low-maintenance package. The Breva 1200 Sport (2007) added a small fairing and sportier chassis tuning.

What to check before buying
- Check the shaft drive for oil seeping at the bevel housing; a well-known maintenance point on high-mileage large-bore Guzzi V-twins.
- Inspect the regulator/rectifier for heat damage; charging voltage can become unstable during intensive city riding.
- Check the handlebar cluster and switches; uncorrected examples may have corroded connectors causing switch failure.
- Verify the condition of rubber grommets (fuel tank mounts, steering head bushes); replacement is advisable on bikes over 60,000 km.
- If a Sport model, confirm the slipper clutch engages cleanly and shows no rattling on downshifts.
