About the Ducati Scrambler 1100
The Ducati Scrambler 1100 is the larger sibling of the Scrambler 800, introduced in 2018. Its engine is a 1079 cc air/oil-cooled L-twin derived from the classic Ducati Sport Classic powerplant. Where the Scrambler 800 targets beginners and city riders, the 1100 offers more power and a stronger retro character within the Scrambler family. It has a longer wheelbase, sportier suspension and a more pronounced vintage design than its smaller stablemate.
The Scrambler 1100 targets experienced riders who want the Scrambler's retro aesthetic combined with more power and torque for open roads and motorways. The upright riding position, wide handlebar and accessible seat height make it approachable for a wide range of riders. Available in base, Sport and Special trims, the Sport has lower suspension and spoked-look cast wheels, the Special features wire-spoked wheels and a leather saddle. Key rivals include the Triumph Scrambler 1200 and BMW R nineT Scrambler.

What to check before buying
- Check desmodromic valve service history (due every 15,000 km): this is a cost often deferred by owners.
- Inspect the rear mudguard and pannier mounts for paint chipping on wire-spoked-wheel models; mudguard fixings vibrate loose with off-road use.
- Check the ABS and traction control unit for fault codes; software updates were released for the 1100 Sport to address false warnings.
- Be aware of heat management: the 1079 cc engine directs significant heat toward the rider at low speeds; this is a known characteristic, not a fault.
