About the Triumph Scrambler
The Triumph Scrambler is the scrambler version of the modern Bonneville twin. Introduced in 2006 with an 865 cc air-cooled parallel-twin (270° crank) and high-mounted twin exhausts in classic scrambler style. It is a road bike with a scrambler look: spoked 19"/17" wheels, knobby-style tyres and longer travel, but the chain drive and road tune keep it firmly on tarmac. RDW data shows around 42 kW (57 hp).
This Scrambler appeals to riders who want Bonneville retro looks with more character and a more upright riding position. Comfortable on longer rides thanks to the 825 mm seat height and wide bars, although the 218 kg kerb weight makes itself known on narrow trails. The model stayed in production until 2017 and was succeeded by the water-cooled Street Scrambler and the larger Scrambler 1200. On the used market it is a popular choice for an affordable, instantly recognisable Triumph.

What to check before buying
- Check for oil weeping around the rocker covers and cylinder bases; common on the air-cooled 865 twin.
- Inspect the throttle bodies and EFI loom (2008+); ask about cleaning history and any software updates.
- Assess the exhausts for internal corrosion and weld seams, especially the lower silencer section.
- Ask about steering head bearing history; the scrambler riding position keeps them loaded for longer.
- Test the wiring loom including handlebar switches; corroded connectors are common after long outdoor storage.
