Adler

Adler Werke was a German conglomerate founded in 1880 in Frankfurt am Main, initially as a bicycle manufacturer. The company quickly expanded into motorcycles, passenger cars and typewriters. Motorcycle production began around 1900 and continued until 1957. Adler motorcycles were known for their solid construction and reliability, with models ranging from small 100cc two-stroke engines to more powerful four-stroke variants such as the M250 and M200. After the Second World War, the company concentrated on typewriters and bicycles, and motorcycle production was permanently discontinued.

On the contemporary Dutch used market, Adler motorcycles are extremely rare vintage machines. They occasionally surface through specialist collectors and dealers in historic German steel. Parts are almost exclusively found through vintage clubs and private networks. Encountering an Adler motorcycle is a remarkable find for enthusiasts of early post-war German craftsmanship.
