The Yamaha XT660Z Ténéré is a single-cylinder adventure motorcycle produced from 2008 through 2016. Its fuel-injected, liquid-cooled 660 cc engine makes about 35 kW and 58 Nm through a five-speed transmission. A 21-inch wire-spoke front wheel, 17-inch rear, long suspension travel and a large 23-litre tank support long distances and unpaved routes. The tall fairing and twin headlights reference Yamaha's Dakar heritage, although the production bike was primarily designed as a simple, durable travel enduro.
It suits riders who prioritise range, visibility and serviceable mechanicals over low mass or strong peak performance. The narrow chassis feels natural on secondary roads and poor surfaces; motorway use exposes vibration and limited overtaking reserve. Seat height is substantial and ready-to-ride weight exceeds that of a true enduro. Alternatives include the BMW G 650 GS Sertão, KTM 690 Enduro R and older Honda Transalp. For A2 use, check the registered output because some versions sit just above 35 kW and require an approved restriction.
