Years

The original XT250 is kick-start only, light and mechanically simple, with drum brakes and a traditional tall enduro stance.
The Yamaha XT 250 is a light four-stroke enduro launched in 1980 as an approachable companion to the XT500. Early machines use an air-cooled 249 cc single, kick starting, drum brakes and simple long-travel suspension. From 2008 the name returned on a modern, lower dual-sport with electric starting, disc brakes and later fuel injection.
The XT 250 suits new and experienced riders who value manageable weight, gentle power and genuine unpaved-road ability more than motorway speed. It works well for commuting, back roads and light trail riding. Always establish the model year and generation: the classic XT250 and modern injected version share a name and purpose but few parts. Sustained motorway use, heavy luggage and hard competition riding are outside its strongest use case.
A used Yamaha XT 250 costs €3,500 on average. Most cost €2,900 to €4,100. This is based on 2 motorcycles for sale now.
