Years
2023 - present
The current 250 SX uses the latest KTM motocross platform with modern injection and electronics. Check software, hours, air-filter routine and WP XACT service as critically as mechanical wear.
Years
2017 - 2022
The late carburettor series has a more compact motocross basis and modern WP components. It remains wholly hour- and maintenance-dependent; proof of piston and clutch work is essential.
Years
2011 - 2016
The middle series gains modern chassis and WP suspension while retaining explosive two-stroke basics. Check jump damage, radiators and regularly completed rebuilds.
Years
1993 - 2010
The classic 250 SX is the pure 249 cc two-stroke motocrosser from the pre-modern chassis era. Buy only on hour log, top end, reed valve, clutch and frame inspection; it is not road legal.
The KTM 250 SX is a pure two-stroke motocross bike in the 250 cc class, for decades one of the most successful race machines in motocross. The single-cylinder two-stroke engine produces around 67 hp through a manual gearbox and sits in a CrMo steel frame with fully adjustable WP XACT suspension. The bike is not road-registered and is ridden exclusively in competition or on private land.
The 250 SX targets serious motocross riders and competition pilots who prefer the explosive power delivery of a two-stroke over the consistent torque of a four-stroke. It is lighter than its four-stroke sibling, the 250 SX-F. In the Netherlands it frequently appears on the used market when owners move up a class or switch to four-stroke.

A used Ktm 250 SX costs €5,995 on average. Most cost €4,250 to €10,619. This is based on 31 motorcycles for sale now.
MotorMonitor now compares 31 used Ktm 250 SX motorcycles from Dutch sales sites.
The average used Ktm 250 SX is from 2023 and has done about 41 km.
