2008–2011 · G 450 X ECE / straatlegaal

About the Bmw G 450 X
The BMW G 450 X is BMW’s pure sport enduro from 2008–2011. In this context, the name ‘G 450’ refers to the same G 450 X; BMW did not document a separate production platform without the X. It was developed from the outset for competitive enduro use, while the ECE specification was supplied with road-legal equipment. The liquid-cooled 449.5cc single has DOHC, four valves, dry-sump lubrication, fuel injection and a five-speed gearbox. Distinctive features are the concentric countershaft/swingarm-pivot layout, 45mm Marzocchi fork and Öhlins rear shock.

What to check before buying
- Verify VIN, identification plate and year as G 450 X/K16; ‘G 450’ without X is an alias here, not a second BMW enduro platform.
- Check service history for dry-sump lubrication, oil-level procedure, cooling system, injection and electric start before any purchase or competition use.
- Check chain line, countershaft/swingarm pivot, guides, swingarm and bearing points for play or damage; this is an important identifying and load-bearing feature of the G 450 X.
- Inspect Marzocchi fork, Öhlins rear shock, rims, spokes, radiators and subframe for enduro or jump damage and rebuild history.
- Confirm which output specification is fitted: the road-legal ECE version is 30kW, while the open non-road-legal configuration is 38kW. Do not blend those values in adverts or parts claims.
