The Yamaha XJ900 Diversion is an air-cooled inline-four sport tourer produced from 1994 to 2003. Its 891 cc DOHC four-cylinder produces 85 hp and drives through a maintenance-free shaft drive. The half-fairing and upright riding position make it well suited for longer journeys. In the Benelux it was very popular as an affordable, no-fuss touring machine.
The Diversion targets riders who prioritise reliability and low running costs over outright performance. The shaft drive and air-cooled engine keep servicing simple and inexpensive. It is not designed for the track or serious off-road use, but excels as a daily commuter and weekend tourer. It competed with the Honda CB900 Hornet and Suzuki GSX-F 750.
A used Yamaha XJ 900 / Diversion costs €1,750 on average. Most cost €1,175 to €2,710. This is based on 13 motorcycles for sale now.
