About the Yamaha FZ 8
The Yamaha FZ-8 is a naked mid-range sportbike powered by a 779 cc inline-four derived from the larger FZ-1. With 106 hp it delivers a sharp riding character without the intimidating power of a litre-class engine. The bike is offered in two variants: the naked FZ-8 N and the half-faired FZ-8 S Fazer with windscreen and added protection. Production ran from 2010 to 2016, as the direct successor to the FZ-6. Yamaha positioned the FZ-8 as the ideal step for riders ready for more than a 600cc but not yet committed to a litre bike.
The FZ-8 attracts riders who combine daily commuting with active riding on twisty roads. The upright position and smooth powerband make the bike approachable, yet the performance remains lively enough to keep experienced riders engaged. Rivals include the Kawasaki Z750 and the Suzuki GSR750. The FZ-8 stands out through its quality finish and the solid braking and suspension components fitted as standard.

What to check before buying
- Check the fuel pump for ticking noises on cold start; a known concern on early examples (2010–2012).
- Inspect the exhaust joints for rust and corrosion; stock exhausts are prone to corrosion with frequent city use.
- Check coolant level and system for leaks; the thermostat typically requires replacement around 40,000 km.
- Inspect the front forks for oil leaks and verify spring preload is set correctly for the rider's weight.
- Check ABS sensors (if fitted) for correct function with a wet-road test ride.
