About the Triumph Thruxton
The Triumph Thruxton is the café racer in the modern Bonneville family. The first Hinckley generation arrived in 2004 with an air-cooled 865cc parallel twin, low clip-ons and an unmistakably classic stance. Carburettors later gave way to fuel injection without changing its straightforward character. From 2016 the name moved to an all-new liquid-cooled 1200cc twin; the Thruxton R added premium suspension and brakes. The 2020-on Thruxton RS is the sharpest version, with more power and a lighter-focused sporting specification.
A Thruxton is bought as much for its riding position and look as for its engine. Its wrists carry more weight and its pegs sit higher than on a Bonneville, making it rewarding on flowing roads but less relaxed for two-up touring.
