Years
2025 - present
Speed Twin 1200 (current)
GenerationThe 2025-on Speed Twin 1200 is the revised standard version with more power, new chassis and modern electronics; the RS is a separate canonical trim. On young examples, check software, first service and whether the advert is genuinely the standard 1200 or the RS.
Years
2021 - 2024
Speed Twin 1200 (updated)
GenerationThe 2021-on Speed Twin 1200 gained more power and refined brake and suspension components while retaining compact roadster ergonomics. Confirm the correct 1,200 cc generation and original parts; an advert titled only 'Speed Twin' must not be filtered as a 900.
Years
2019 - 2020
Speed Twin 1200
GenerationThe modern Speed Twin from 2019 is the 1,200 cc roadster with the 1200 Bonneville twin, not the separate Speed Twin 900. Check brakes, tyres, service history and any sporting modifications; the characteristic twin-dial cockpit and equipment vary by model year.
About the Triumph Speed Twin
The Triumph Speed Twin (900) was introduced in 2019 as a timeless, classically styled roadster built on the modern Hinckley platform. The 900 cc parallel twin with 270-degree crank produces 65 hp and 80 Nm of torque in a linear, approachable character. The compact aluminium frame and low 790 mm seat height make the Speed Twin an excellent entry point for riders who appreciate classic British styling without compromising on modern reliability. Traction control and ABS are standard.
The Speed Twin is an all-rounder for riders combining daily commuting, weekend rides, and a stylish presence. It is lighter and easier to handle than the T100 or T120 but retains the character of the Bonneville family. It suits riders stepping up from a smaller bike or experienced riders deliberately choosing a more relaxed pace. On the used market prices are attractive and parts are readily available.

What to check before buying
- Check clutch wear on bikes that have been used heavily in urban traffic; the clutch is light but sensitive.
- Inspect exhaust headers for corrosion; the polished steel discolours quickly with regular use.
- Verify the cold-weather fuelling software update has been applied on pre-2021 examples.
- Watch for oil weeping at the cylinder head gasket faces on higher-mileage bikes.
- Inspect spoke condition if the original wire wheels are fitted; spokes working loose is a known maintenance item.
