2022–heden 1290 Super Duke R EVO
EditionThe EVO is the 2022+ trim with the 1,301 cc/180 hp LC8 V-twin and second-generation WP APEX semi-active suspension. Engine, frame family and brakes are closely related to the 2020+ Super Duke R, but the semi-active suspension is the defining difference. Match only when EVO is explicitly confirmed.
About the Ktm 1290 Super Duke R EVO
From 2022, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO is the semi-active flagship alongside, not instead of, the regular 1290 Super Duke R. Its 1,301 cc LC8 V-twin produces 132 kW/180 hp and 140 Nm; the EVO is distinguished by second-generation WP APEX Semi-Active Technology. The EVO’s official 191 kg dry weight is two kilograms above the conventional-suspension R, so 189 kg is not the correct EVO reference.
This is a very powerful naked for an experienced full-licence rider. Its standard electronic suspension adjusts damping, but also merits a complete functional test and fault-free dashboard check when buying. Carefully verify that an advert genuinely states EVO: blue/orange paint or standalone electronic options on a standard R do not make an EVO.

What to check before buying
- Check the water pump weep hole for leaks – the LC8 water pump issue carries over to the newer generation.
- Inspect the semi-active WP Apex dampers for correct operation; a faulty sensor puts the system into failsafe mode.
- Check the radiator for stone chip damage – it sits exposed at the front of the bike.
- Check the Brembo Stylema brakes for pad and disc wear on track-used examples.
- Inspect the TFT display edges for delamination cracks – a reported issue on early 2022 production bikes.
