Years

The first 1050 has round twin headlights, a single-sided swingarm and a strong but largely unfiltered triple-cylinder engine.
The Triumph Speed Triple 1050 has been the flagship British naked for several generations. In 2005 the 1,050 cc inline triple replaced the older 955i, and the combination of a meaty torque curve, aggressive styling with twin round headlights and the unmistakable triple soundtrack made it a benchmark in the naked segment. Power rose from around 96 kW (131 hp) at launch to 100+ kW in later versions, with progressively better chassis equipment, Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes on the R/RS trims.
The Speed Triple 1050 appeals to experienced riders who consciously choose character over outright peak figures. More sporting and focused than a Tiger, but more comfortable than a Daytona. Rivals include the Yamaha MT-10, KTM 1290 Super Duke and BMW S 1000 R. The 1050 stayed in production until 2018, after which the 1,160 cc Speed Triple 1200 arrived. On the used market prices are attractive and the model is appreciated for its reliability and solid resale value for a Triumph.
